Spring Online Plant Sale
April 17th – 26th Open for Orders
May 2nd Pickup

It’s February and despite the cold weather (Yes- it actually snowed here!), gardeners everywhere are planning their work for the upcoming year. The mail is full of seed catalogs and announcements are starting to pop up for anticipated sales events.

The Brunswick County Master Gardeners Volunteer Association (BCMGVA) is thrilled to announce our Spring Online Plant Sale, set to take place in April 2025! This is your chance to explore a diverse selection of plants from the comfort of your home. Utilizing our resource materials – which are available to the public – we have developed a list of plant offerings that meet the growing conditions of Brunswick County. Specific attention has been given to offering plants that support pollinators, butterfly gardens, rain gardens, and plants that are native to
our region and salt and drought tolerant.

Please SAVE THE DATE and join us for the sale. We anticipate the website will be open for orders between April 17- April 26, 2025, with pick-up on May 2, 2025. Enjoy the convenience of shopping from home, access to unique and hard-to-find plants, and support a community of fellow plant lovers. Further information including a list of available plants with descriptions, growing needs, and photos will be available as the date draws closer.

Soil Testing Information

The best first step toward having a beautiful garden and landscape is having your soil tested every couple of years. Homeowner/Residential Soil Kits are available for pick up on a table in front of the Extension Office doorways. Each soil test kit gives you three boxes for testing different areas of your yard and then you deliver them back, so we can send them to the labs at NC State University. Your info is returned directly to you by email. Instead of picking up and delivering your soil tests back to the Extension office, you may pick up AND drop off soil kits and testing boxes at the following locations throughout Brunswick County: Ace Hardware in Southport, Scott’s Farm/Jack’s Farm Center as well as Green Resource in Shallotte, Heritage Fresh Market (off Route 17) in Supply, Ace Hardware in Calabash, and Ace Hardware and Shelton Herb Farm in Leland.

We hope to see you at our plant sales this year. Always remember, the Extension Master Gardener volunteers greatly appreciate your support as we raise funds to support the Botanical Demonstration Gardens located beside the Extension offices, landscaping for Habitat for Humanity houses, and a wide variety of educational programming to help Brunswick County residents succeed in gardening in our coastal environment.
