The Brunswick County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers Association 2023 Spring Plant Sale was a huge success. Lots of beautiful plants found new homes in your gardens. Thank you for your great support! Not resting on our laurels, the Brunswick County Master Gardeners are hard at work preparing our next 2023 plant sale.
In conjunction with National Pollinator Week and just in time for the Monarchs, numerous butterflies, and other pollinators, BCEMGVA will hold a Pollinator/Native Plant Sale featuring Milkweeds, summer blooming perennials, and other critical pollinator-beneficial plants to celebrate the importance of pollinators in the food chain. This sale offers plants endorsed by Monarch Watch, the North Carolina Butterfly Highway, and the North Carolina Native Plant Society as critical to sustaining our butterfly and pollinator habitat.
The sale will be held on Thursday June 22, from 8:00 am – 11:30 am (early start) at the Brunswick County Extension Office, 25 Referendum Drive, greenhouse area behind Building N, Government Complex, Bolivia, NC 28422. We have increased the variety of plants offered to include some of the most wildlife-beneficial shrubs and trees. Payment accepted: cash, check, or Visa/Mastercard with 3% processing fee added to total. CLICK HERE for the tentative plant list and more information on the plants offered.

SAVE THE DATE for Other 2023 Plant Sales

Soil Testing Info
The best first step toward having a beautiful garden and landscape is having your soil tested every couple of years. Homeowner/Residential Soil Kits are available for pick up on a table in front of the Extension Office doorways. Each soil test kit gives you three boxes for testing different areas of your yard and then you deliver them back, so we can send them to the labs at NC State University. Your info is returned directly to you by email. Instead of picking up and delivering your soil tests back to the Extension office, you may pick up AND drop off soil kits and testing boxes at the following locations throughout Brunswick County: Ace Hardware in Southport, Scott’s Farm/Jack’s Farm Center as well as Green Resource in Shallotte, Heritage Fresh Market (off Route 17) in Supply, Ace Hardware in Calabash, and Ace Hardware and Shelton Herb Farm in Leland.
We hope to see you at our plant sales this year and thanks to the MANY who came to the Container Sale in March. We sold almost all of the 1,400 mostly annuals that we had available. Always remember, the Extension Master Gardener volunteers greatly appreciate your support as we raise funds to support the Botanical Demonstration Garden located beside the Extension offices, landscaping for Habitat for Humanity houses, and a wide variety of educational programming to help Brunswick County residents succeed in gardening in our coastal environment.
