Pycnanthemum muticum | Mountain Mint

$7.00

Mountain mint (Pycnanthemum muticum) is a native, herbaceous perennial, wildflower in the mint family (Lamiaceae). It is native to eastern Canada and eastern United States. Mountain mint grows in full sun to partial shade and in medium to dry soil with good drainage. It grows 3 to 4 feet tall in a space of 2 to 3 feet. This is an aggressive growing plant if planted in moist and fertilized soil but is a great solution for areas with poor soil that receive no supplemental irrigation.

This plant is one of the best nectar sources for native butterflies, so butterfly gardeners can’t do without this one. Our bees in the Botanical Garden go crazy for it, too! In the late summer the plants are visited by numerous native bees.
